Jack Warner Press Launch & Luncheon Jack Warner, FIFA Vice President, called a press conference to introduce the new interim coach for the National Football Team, Colombian, Francisco Maturana, due to the six-month suspension of current coach, Dutchman Wim Rijsbergen. After the launch, Mr. Warner invited executive of the TTFF, Maturana and his team to a luncheon meeting at the exquisite Jaffa Restaurant in the Queen’s Park Oval. The Digicel Group held the Trinidad leg of the Digicel Kick Start Clinic at the Marvin Lee Stadium in Macoya. John Barnes, former Watford, Liverpool and England star player was brought in to work with the local coaches and Under 20 players to assist them in improving their football skills. They also have a chance to be one of the chosen six to go to the
Premier League Club, Sunderland to spend one week training with the
club’s Academy of Light. All Sport held its sixth annual edition of Soccer for Charity, a seven a side football tournament aimed at donating funds to a worthy cause. This year we have decided to allocate funds to Ms. Alicia Alexander, a cancer patient who is currently undergoing radiation and chemotherapy. Although the primary aim of the event is for charitable purposes, it
also a day of fun where prizes are given for ‘Team who scored the least
points’ or ‘Team who the most goals were scored on’. The winning team
receives a Soccer for Charity trophy.

Cricket and youth are extremely perishable products, which need to be carefully managed, nurtured and loved” Dr. Donald Peters, Chief Executive Officer of the West Indies Cricket Board in his address at the launch of the ICC Under 15 World Cup, CLICO being the core sponsor. It was a gala evening as members of the cricket fraternity, sponsors and other interested parties mingled at the launch of the championships, carded to take place throughout the Caribbean. CLICO West Indies U15 Cricket – Dominica (16th -23rd April) All Sport’s mandate for this tournament was to ensure that the sponsor’s interest is secured through the maintenance of signage and other forms of branding. All Sport in collaboration with the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee worked together to prepare for the four hour visit of the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Dr. Jacques Rogge who was also accompanied by Mario Vasquez Rana, President of the Pan American Sports Organisation (PASO) and Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC). Dr. Rogge visited the President, Professor George Maxwell Richards and was then escorted to the Hyatt Regency Trinidad for a reception held in his honour. He was pleased to meet Hasely Crawford, Trinidad and Tobago’s only athlete to win an Olympic Gold Medal. Press Conference T&T vs. England The TTFF held a press conference to launch the much anticipated T&T vs. England game, which is being held as part of the their centennial celebrations. Jack Warner, FIFA Vice President, confirmed star players such as Dwight Yorke and Russell Latapy to play. Simon Johnson, Director of Public Affairs for the England FA is thrilled to be a part of these celebrations. The TTFF held a congratulatory reception for the Trinidad and Tobago Youth Footballers who held a strong Jamaica to a 2-2 draw in Jamaica. The function took place at the Banquet Hall, Queen’s Park Oval. The TTFF held a congratulatory welcome reception for the Futsal Team, National Women’s Senior and Under 17 team, commending them for a job well don in their respective tournaments. Mr. Jack Austin Warner, special adviser to the TTFF announced that three national women football referees and referee assistants have been chosen to officiate at the Beijing Olympic Games in China.
CLICO presents the International U-15 Cricket Championships taking place in the West Indies from April 16th to May 4th 2008. Cricket at the Under 15 level provides a useful platform in molding the great cricketers of the future and promises to captivate the cricket connoisseurs of the Caribbean. (See link)
Corporate bodies hire us to handle technical and infrastructural elements of their one day football tournaments. On the technical side, this includes registration, fixtures, team briefing and scoring. On the infrastructural side, this includes erection of advertising signage, goal posts and marking of fields. TTFF Annual Award Ceremony June 8, 2008 The Trinidad & Tobago Football Federation hosting of their annual
awards, which includes awards for coach of the year, player of the year,
team of the year. The Super League also collaborates with the TTFF on
this event to present their awards. FIFA Vice President Jack Warner held an emergency press conference to respond to statements made by the Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Gary Hunt regarding the use of national stadia for T&T World Cup Qualifying matches.
See details and results here: bmobile National Super League This league was developed by the TTFF to serve as a feeder to the National Professional League (the TT Pro League). The best clubs qualify to play in the National Super League. In the first four years of the National Super League, three clubs have been promoted, while another, WASA F.C. beat the Pro League clubs to win the National FA Trophy in 2006. In 2008, the TTFF has decided to include one additional team: the National Under 20 team. The total number of teams is now thirteen. The competitions in the National Super League include:
National Super League Opening Match Press release: The 2008 National Super League will kick off on Monday June 30th. The season opener will feature defending champions, WASA FC against the winner of the qualifying Champion of Champions tournament, St. Francois Nationals. The entry of St. Francois Nationals into the Super League marks the first time in more than 25 years that a club from Belmont has qualified for national football. Glenford Waines, long standing Manager of the Belmont outfit, is optimistic that his club can excel at this level. Waines is also pleased that a number of players who 'cut their teeth' at St. Francois have returned to help the club succeed this year. WASA FC qualified for promotion to the TT Pro League but declined the offer, opting instead for at least another year of experience at the semi pro level. 13 clubs are in this year’s Super League, including UTT and the National Under 20 team, both accepted as part of national football development. Monday’s game kicks off at 6pm, and according to All Sport, the company mandated to manage the National Super League, there are lots of giveaways and incentives, including a free drink on entry to all paying patrons. The National Super League is keeping its admission price at $20 per game for the 2008 season. Another five matches will be played on Wednesday.
The 13th edition of the Republic Bank Right Start Cup Youth Football
Tournament opens on Saturday 12th July at the Casuals Corner, Queen’s
Park Savannah. The tournament takes place in different zones all over
the island to as far as Palo Seco in the South to Tobago. Overall there
are seven zones with the winners of each age group qualifying for the
finals back at Casuals Corner on August 17th. Age groups for this year
are boys under 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and girls under 15 and 18. The National Alcohol And Drug Abuse Prevention Progranmme (NADAPP) held a breakfast meeting for radio dj’s in an effort to spread the word on the dangers of alcohol and drug abuse. Guest speaker Mr. Errol Fabien’s testimony as an inactive drug user was moving and the support of the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Social Development was also present. TSTT Sport & Cultural Camp (18th -23rd August) Approximately 60 kids from underprivileged homes will be exposed to sporting and cultural activities such as football, table tennis, dance, art, video production etc. At the end of the camp, the kids get a chance to show off their newly developed skills through a graduation ceremony where they receive participation certificates. President’s Award Golf Challenge The President’s Award Golf Foundation, formerly called the Duke of Edinburgh Awards, has joined the rest of the world in hosting a charity golf event to raise funds to support young people at risk worldwide. All proceeds raised are distributed through respected, successful national and international orgainisations dedicated to young people. The golf tournament will be played at the Plantations Golf and Country Club in Tobago and the winning pair will join all other country winners for the world finals to be played in the United Kingdom at the Wentworth Golf Course in October this year. Registration will cover: - All tournament and green fees - The official event dinner to be attended by His Excellency the President of Trinidad & Tobago - Breakfast each day - Fifty percent to the charity |
